The consciousness of the “unity of everything” is the highest level of consciousness. This is where business meets spirituality.
Should something like spirituality even be considered in business? My answer is this: if unity consciousness had been the basis for our business over the last 70 years, our planet would hardly be in the state it is in today.
The consciousness of unity is difficult to understand at first for someone who has grown up in the competitive environment of today’s business world. However, we should recognize that knowledge exchange and cooperation have always brought more advantages than disadvantages. In this day and age, when we need rapid and global technological innovations for the ecological transformation of our planet, they are indispensable.
“The reason why our feeling, perceiving, and thinking self does not appear anywhere in our scientific worldview can be easily expressed in five words: It is this worldview itself. It is identical with the whole and therefore cannot be contained as a part of it. Diversity is mere appearance. In truth, there is only one consciousness.”

Companies should look beyond the boundaries of their own business. All measures must be geared toward the well-being of the biotope in which the company operates and the entire ecosystem. Companies must fulfill their social and environmental responsibilities. This is especially true when they have the potential to impact their environment. For example, the stability of a bank must be part of its DNA. Raw material suppliers, energy providers, and construction companies must have high environmental and safety standards.
Fierce competition between companies and conflict between different interest groups (e.g., employers’ associations and trade unions) also have no place in this model. Entrepreneurs and employees should be partners pursuing common interests. Only through this partnership can the power of an organization unfold in one direction.
Spiral Dynamics is a model that has been around for more than 25 years and addresses and very accurately describes the development of human consciousness. In his book Reinventing Organizations, Frederic Laloux outlines various levels of consciousness as we find them in organizations. Companies mentioned in the book, such as W. L. Gore & Associates, Favi, and Patagonia, show that a different way of doing business is possible.
After completing additional training as a business coach and agile coach, I quickly realized the potential that lies in working together. Together with like-minded people, I have succeeded in resolving conflicts and focusing energies in a common direction in projects at two international corporations.
