Innovations in and for developing countries
The greatest structural challenges on this planet lie in developing countries. The focus is shifting increasingly to Africa. It is important to develop innovations for these countries and at the same time support them in generating innovations independently.
I am very grateful for the prosperity into which I was “born” in Germany. People in developing countries have the same right to this prosperity. Aid campaigns and donations help in this regard. But it is more important to create an infrastructure on the ground that enables people to achieve prosperity on their own.
Possible fields of activity exist in the following areas:
- Establishment of technology start-ups
- Establishment of maker spaces
- Development and production of low-tech innovations, e.g., for water extraction, water treatment, energy generation
- Development and production of high-tech products in developing countries, rather than importing them
- Production via 3D printing
